Together, we're building a more connected, efficient, and patient-centered healthcare experience through one integrated EMR platform.
The CommunityWorks EMR Project is a large-scale operational and technology initiative focused on modernizing and integrating Howard University Hospital (HUH) and the Howard University Faculty Practice Plan's (FPP) clinical and administrative systems into one connected Electronic Medical Record platform. Currently, healthcare workflows often rely on multiple systems and disconnected processes. The CommunityWorks EMR Project will help unify patient records, improve care coordination, reduce duplication of services, strengthen interdisciplinary collaboration, and support more informed clinical decision-making.
The implementation is being led through a collaborative partnership between HUH, the FPP, HU Information Technology, Oracle Health, HealthNET and a multitude of Operational Departments. The project includes extensive planning, workflow design, training, testing, optimization, and organizational readiness efforts to ensure a successful transition across the hospital and affiliated practices. The initiative will also strengthen compliance, reporting, quality outcomes, and population health management capabilities while helping HUH continue advancing equitable, patient-centered care.
